The Milky Way in Scorpius, Sagittarius and Scutum

 

A Messier Feast

This panorama was taken from St Lucia in the Caribbean, utilising the balcony of my hotel room. Given that there were several lights in the vicinity the detail in the milky way is remarkable.

In addition to the 11 Messier objects labelled, M24 (the Sagittarius Star Cloud) appears left of M17.
